Earlier that same day, The Chilli Man had been injured during the Emerald Express Stakes at Emerald Downs and was euthanized. He appears to have been the only horse among the almost 4,000 horses on the Memorial whom Snowden had trained. We can’t speculate as to all the factors that led to her jumping off a bridge. But we do often wonder how many owners and trainers find the death toll in horseracing too much to bear and eventually leave the business.
