Thirty-five more horses is nothing to celebrate but is a sad commentary on the horseracing industry, in which we have seen zero reduction in fatalities while independently researching over the years. The 35 horses are those we could confirm actually died as result of on-track injuries. (Others we couldn’t confirm and post are likely gone as well.)
Some of these horses were brought to us by visitors to the site. We understand there are repeat visitors who check the Memorial for various reasons, so we thank you for your interest, for alerting us to confirmed fatalities we may have missed, and most of all for caring about the racehorses.
